A native living garden that enhances quality of life and promotes biodiversity in Tenerife
How can an arid yet lush garden be designed to enhance both human life and the ecosystem?
This question guides the landscape design of Kora Tamaragua, a tiered building that integrates architecture and nature through gardens arranged at various heights—from ground level to patios, elevated planters, and rooftops.
We adopt a comprehensive approach that not only focuses on human enjoyment but also supports the native flora and fauna that inhabit Tenerife. The garden is conceived as a space that fosters life in all its forms.
The prioritization of native flora is a key element of our proposal. This vegetation, mainly related to the Cardonal-Tabaibal formation, not only beautifies the architecture but also ensures a multisensory experience, thereby increasing interaction with the various garden spaces.

Through the vegetation, we reinforce the identity and memory of the place, promoting the educational function of the landscape to teach about local ecosystems and the wildlife that inhabits them.
Our choice of flora not only provides food and shelter for local fauna but also addresses one of the greatest challenges of our time: the loss of biodiversity. We aim to highlight the species that share the gardens, including various birds, butterflies, lizards, and bees.

The benefits of the landscaping at Kora Tamaragua are numerous: listening to birdsong, enjoying edible and aromatic gardens, framing views with vegetation, and even producing honey from the flowers in the garden are just some of the experiences offered.
LA TARDE approaches this project as an opportunity to strengthen the connection between people and their natural surroundings, creating spaces that respect biodiversity and celebrate the essence of their location.
